🔗 Share this article The Game UN:Me: A Psychological Horror That Blends Survival Horror with Social Deduction Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed a number of intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo adventure appears to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us. "It's a unique game where a girl containing multiple personalities within her must escape from a labyrinth of the psyche," states developer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Consciousness In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed heroine seeming to be of teenage years. Within her reside four separate souls, each with their own fears and drives. These souls can take over spontaneously, releasing their innermost terrors upon her suddenly. Based on showcased footage, much of the action takes place within a creepy hospital, while additional clips show the protagonist navigating a desolate church. An Environment of Personal Horror "What are you afraid of? What makes you uncomfortable?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Small rooms. People in power. Things that appear minor to others can trigger something primal within us. This game explores that concept — fears that are specific to each person." The core mechanic involves managing the persona that surfaces at any given time. However, these souls will change against your will during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and attack the protagonist in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences. Unsettling Visuals and a Fatal Decision At first glance, UN:Me shares striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The setting is filled with nurses all sporting the identical visage, with unnervingly wide smiles. Patients in the lobby have enormous flowers growing from their necks are. Floral motifs are an ever-present theme, contrasting natural beauty with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me introduces a singular mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls haunting the protagonist is the "real" one. "All four personas asserts that the physical form belongs to them," notes a creator. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is authentic." After a player believes a soul is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. However, because every entity can lie or hide the truth, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake. "Maybe you've already eliminated the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration states. "The last one standing might be a fraud. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed launch window, but it is available to follow on platforms.
