The former Liverpool manager admits a return to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown since 1990, now holds roles in a global football capacity with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the idea that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach a different club on English soil. Which implies if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. It's plausible.”

“I’m 58, that means the choice could be mine down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to tempt his return to the dugout, he confessed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be during downpours through long matches; No need for press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter in my ear to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing a decline.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

The manager expressed deep feeling on the loss of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother recently.

“Who can fill the void of somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it to justify results yet it's the reality. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
