Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future following a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
