Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their initial championship series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 series triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, our city, Canada," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit twenty-three October home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I want up in that situation except for George Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the only MLB franchise never to appear in a World Series.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "without a doubt that it's going to sting" after his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts this season.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he added.

Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
